first family vacation.

Last week, we were able to take a week away together as a family. We headed down south - not very far south - but south. And found ourselves in a little cabin in Brown County, Indiana. It was a perfect little place for our first family vacation.
It was quite refreshing to leave the city and spend a week surrounded by God's beautiful creation.
It was so fun sharing it all with Elijah too! He seemed to really enjoy hiking...
...but he would probably like doing almost anything as long as he is with his mom and dad.

consider.

As I sat down to study this morning, the key verse could not have been more fitting for today.
"Consider what great things He has done for you."
1 Samuel 12:24
Greg and I celebrate our four year wedding anniversary today. And I find myself considering what great things God has done for me and thanking Him for bringing me such an incredible husband.
God formed both Greg and I individually and uniquely from the very beginning. As each year of marriage goes by I am even more assured that God had the other in mind as He formed each of us individually. We are not perfect, nor is our marriage; however, we are perfectly fit for one another.
I love this man.
I praise God for this man.
This man causes me to love my Jesus more and more each day.
This man is living out the very verse God gave us for our wedding.
"And let us consider how we may spur one another on
towards love and good deeds."
Hebrews 10:24
Consider what great things God has done for you today.
He is so faithful.

happy half birthday.

Little Elijah turns six months old today.
He is an absolute joy.
Nothing short of a precious gift from the Hand of God.
After going to the doctor yesterday for his checkup and immunizations, we found out how much he is growing - statistically speaking.
weight: 17 lbs 6 oz
50th percentile
height: 27 inches
75th percentile head circumference: 45 cm 80th percentile All other growth milestones are right on track and we praise God for Elijah's strong and healthy development. Elijah was also very brave during his shots and let out some loud, strong screams to only quickly calm down once Nurse Rosa finished. (And mommy only briefly teared up this time...it will never be easy to see him hurt.)
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. Psalm 139:14

first tooth.

On April 4th, Elijah's first tooth came through!
We haven't caught a picture of it yet; however it's the reason behind this face. Also the reason for all the saliva on his face. He's been quite a little trooper even though it's been painful for him.

first easter.

Better late than never...
Elijah's first Easter (Resurrection Sunday)
Daddy.Mommy.Elijah (also the only photo where all of us are looking at the camera) Yipee! Jesus arose from the grave and He is alive today.

Okay, maybe just one more smile!

first solid food.

On March 2oth, Elijah entered his journey of exploring solid food!
Thankfully, he has done great with the type of cereal we decided to start with.
A little unsure at first.
Okay, he hated the idea at first.
Well, maybe this stuff isn't too bad after all.
Daddy getting to feed Elijah for the first time.
And nothing is better than wrapping up a meal with playtime with daddy!

life is on the move.

Life has been quite busy for us lately, so please forgive my lack of posting. Elijah has been growing by leaps and bounds as well as experiencing many "firsts." We also were blessed to have dear houseguests. All of that and much more has kept me away from the computer, but I'll dedicate the next few posts to sharing it all with you.
Here are some snapshots of our precious time with our adopted Colorado family.
Rob playing with Elijah.
Elijah enjoying his time with lovely Teri.
A very happy family.
(Note the wet spots all over Greg's shirt. No, he isn't sweating profusely. Elijah is teething, so he chews on anything he can get to.)
The Cook family has so graciously invited us into their home many times and showered love on us over and over. So, it really was such an honor to have them come stay and to have the opportunity to maybe bless them as well. As I prepared for their stay and tackled many projects around the house, I kept asking the Lord to make them feel loved and blessed in our home. It turns out I received the greatest gift the morning they were leaving and Teri shared with me how much she appreciated everything and it really blessed her.
Of course, we don't do things because of the response we expect to get from others. And even if they didn't say anything, I'd wholeheartedly do it all again; however, I was most in awe of how God orchestrated it all. By prompting Teri to speak those words to me, it was God's way of saying, "Katie, I hear you. I'm pleased with you, my daughter. I love you."
Oh, He is so gracious and loving.
Praying today finds you delighting in the Lord and expectant for what He is going to do.
